From Linglestown to Colonial Park: A Community Rooted in History
Linglestown, founded in 1765 by Thomas Lingle, is one of the oldest settlements in Dauphin County. What began as a small colonial town has grown into a suburban community that still carries its historic charm and strong local identity.
Just south of it, Colonial Park represents a newer chapter in Lower Paxton Township’s growth. Developed largely in the mid-20th century, it reflects the postwar expansion of the Harrisburg area, bringing families, neighborhoods, churches, and businesses together into a vibrant suburban setting.
Though different in age and origin, both communities share a common thread: a strong sense of belonging, tradition, and community spirit that continues to shape life in this part of Pennsylvania today.
